Commercial Analyst

Job description
Part of the commercial department, the Commercial Solutions analyst takes a pragmatic client focused view at re-signing the client base.
Key responsibilities
- Securing customer profit from existing clients
- Working client management, suppliers and customers, latter two directly where appropriate, to construct winning commercial propositions
- Presenting and using data and intelligence to proactively improve client retention
- Delivery of, reporting on and supporting new business proposal
- Ad hoc resolution of commercial client issues
Main activities
- Pro-actively identifying clients at risk of churn
- Delivering commercial solutions through commercial understanding of client needs, matching these with AN and supplier capabilities
- Achieving revenue and profit targets for new and existing client performance and client retention
- Using and interpreting key data to deliver initiatives to secure revenues, e.g. client attrition reports, predictive churn reports, profitability reports
- Analysing profitability and return on investment of commercial proposals
- Analyse current market proposals to guide AN commercials
- Some system development, as required in Excel and/ or Access, using macros and/ or VBA
Personal Criteria
Essential
- Graduate calibre
- Commercial Acumen – must have a good grasp of Break Even Points, and Return on Investment analysis
- Analytical background – ability analyse and interpret data and identify trends and issues
- MS Excel –using Excel to create formulas, such as IF clauses, VLOOKUP, & Pivot Tables, as well as representing data graphically, VBA knowledge would be a bonus
- Strong team-working, interpersonal and relationship building skills to facilitate working with clients, suppliers and internal team members
- Highly motivated and capable of delivering to tight deadlines and targets under pressure
- Demonstrable attention to detail
Preferred
- Negotiation skills
- Project delivery experience
- MS Access – confident in writing, editing and debugging tables, queries, macros reports and forms within MS Access
- Small amounts of VBA have been used in some existing structures, but this is not common
- Some experience of Data Warehouse-based reporting programs, such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects or Brio would be a big help
- Telecoms experience
